Fluid Simulation for High Speed Networks 1

چکیده
We propose to use uid model based time-driven simulation to simulate high speed networks. For single class uid in feedforward networks, we prove that the error introduced by discretizing a uid model is within a deterministic bound proportional to the discretization interval length and is not related to the network size. We show that uid simulation ooers the exibility to trade accuracy for eeciency, and it is also easy to parallelize. These features enable us to speed up simulation by orders of magnitude compared to the event-driven simulation.

متن کاملA Fluid-based Simulation Study: The Effect of Loss Synchronization on Sizing Buffers over 10Gbps High Speed Networks
Router buffer size has been playing an important role in packet based networks. In particular, it has been argued that high speed optical networks of the order of 10Gbps demand for large buffer size according to rule of thumb. Because of inherent limitations (i.e., execution time and memory overhead) of a packet based simulator for high speed optical networks, there are few simulation studies a...

متن کاملHigh-speed All- Optical Time Division Multiplexed Node
In future high-speed self-routing photonic networks based on all-optical time division multiplexing (OTDM) it is highly desirable to carry out packet switching, clock recovery and demultplexing in the optical domain in order to avoid the bottleneck due to the optoelectronics conversion. In this paper we propose a self-routing OTDM node structure composed of an all-optical router and demultiplex...
متن کاملFluidSim: A Tool to Simulate Fluid Models of High-Speed Networks
In this paper we present a tool for the simulation of fluid models of high-speed telecommunication networks. The aim of such a simulator is to evaluate measures which can not be obtained through standard tools in reasonable time or through analytical approaches. We follow an event-driven approach in which events are associated with rate changes in fluid flows. We show that, under some loose res...
